When our clients first bought the house, Abacus collaborated with them and their architects to devise a creative and buildable design for a complete remodel plus an addition. The beautiful property presented double “setback setbacks,” the historic creek had special setbacks; and part of the old house didn’t conform to current setback standards.

To add to the design constraints, the oddly shaped lot is populated by heritage redwoods. “Buildability” became the project’s watchword, and creative solutions flowed. The remodeled home has an expansive feeling, with an easy blend of indoor-outdoor living in a truly glorious setting.
