“We love our home, our children love our home, and we loved working with Abacus. They are great at what they do, and they over-deliver in terms of consideration and thoughtfulness and how they work and who they hire. ”

The homeowners and their architects decided to demolish the rustic, disjointed cabin the family had been living in, and to start fresh. The goal was to maximize the livable space on the lot without overstepping municipal planning constraints. Abacus worked with the architects during the design phase, to develop and evaluate various if/then scenarios. The new house is significantly larger and has clever built-ins that provide a place for absolutely everything.
A wall of folding glass doors seamlessly connects the great room and the large back porch. The absence of visual separation makes the house look and feel more spacious, and the doors are as easy to open and close as a convertible top. Thanks to radiant heating, the family wanders around barefoot on their toasty floors, while enjoying fresh air from open windows and doors.
