The homeowners wanted to create beautiful, functional spaces to suit their contemporary lifestyle, while preserving the historic look and vintage charm of their 1926 home. We provided preconstruction services, enabling the homeowners to make informed design decisions. The scope of work ultimately included adding a dramatic top-floor primary suite opening onto two roof decks with breathtaking views.
The entire building was completely renovated, giving the kitchen, bathrooms, and living spaces a major update. A great deal of ingenuity and craftsmanship was devoted to improvements that guests (and neighbors) don’t necessarily see. For starters, a discreet four-story elevator replaced the old service stairs. It’s seismically sound and perfectly unobtrusive.
Additional “disappearing features” include the sheets of glass surrounding the roof decks; thoughtful storage spaces; and new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and sound systems that are smart in both senses of the term.
